Masala Cabbage

Curry Bible, p. 193

2 tablespoons oil or ghee
3 cups shredded cabbage
1 onion, thinly sliced
2 teaspoons crushed fresh garlic
½ teaspoon ground chili
1 teaspoon ground turmeric
1 teaspoon salt
1 teaspoon Garam Masala
Lemon juice

The bearer of prosperity in the New Year!

(At least, that is, if you're very superstitious. I figure that any step is a good step.)

See? A whole big bowl full of luck.

Heat the oil or ghee in a frying pan and sauté the cabbage, onion and garlic until lightly colored.

Eventually it'll all mesh together and the flavors will meld and it. will. be. so. good.

Add ground chili, turmeric and salt, cover and cook over low heat until tender.

Uncover pan, increase the heat to boil off excess liquid, then sprinkle with garam masala and add lemon juice to taste.

SO GOOD.

My Rating: 5/5 "This was FANTASTIC. If all veggie dishes were this tasty, I would be... well, maybe I wouldn't be skinny, but I would be skinniER. It's cabbage-y, in a happy citrus way with a delightful salty undertone. The texture is neat to chew, and everything goes down beautifully."
