Cowboy Burgers

Albertsons Fresh Summertime Fun, p. 8

8 ground beef patties (2 lb.)
2 Tbsp. olive oil
3 sweet onions (2 lb.), thinly sliced, separated into rings
3 Tbsp. steak sauce
8 hamburger buns
2 tomatoes, sliced
8 Kraft singles

I was crying SO much by the third onion.

Heat grill to medium heat.

Grill patties 5 min. on each side or until done (160F).

I George Foreman'd mine for about five minutes total.

Meanwhile, heat oil in large nonstick skillet on medium-high heat. Add onions; cook and stir 10 min. or until golden brown, stirring frequently. Stir in steak sauce.

Olive oil brought to you by the rosemary-infused favors from Goldenberg's wedding.

Wait for the onions to get good and stringy. That might take longer than the recipe calls for.

Fill buns with tomatoes, burgers, Singles and onion mixture.

Lookin' like class.

Served with some cheddar potato chips and a nice vanilla porter.

My Rating: 4/5 "Tasty! Juicy! Cheesy! These are all good attributes for a burger, and these have these qualities in spades. The recipe makes enough for a small gathering, so they'd be great for a cookout."
