Hermits

1 cup packed brown sugar
¼ cup margarine or butter, softened
¼ cup shortening
¼ cup cold coffee
1 egg
½ teaspoon ground cinnamon
½ teaspoon ground nutmeg
1 ¾ cups all-purpose flour
½ teaspoon baking soda
½ teaspoon salt
1 ¼ cups raisins
¾ cup chopped nuts

Heat oven to 375F. Mix brown sugar, margarine, shortening, coffee, egg, cinnamon and nutmeg in medium bowl.

What a concoction!

Stir in remaining ingredients.

I used almonds for the chopped nuts and also added some craisins to the mix for more Fall flavor.

Drop dough by rounded teaspoonfuls about 2 inches apart onto ungreased cookie sheet. Bake until almost no indentation remains when touched, 8 to 10 minutes. Immediately remove from cookie sheet.

Cookies; The Ultimate Finger Food.

My Rating: 4/5 "These were a great autumnal snack that give you a great excuse to heat up the house with baking! The coffee isn't really an overwhelming flavor - just a mellow accent behind the sweet things. Good stuff!"
