Sesame Seed Cookies

¾ cup sugar
½ cup butter or margarine
1 egg
½ cup sesame seed
2 cups all-purpose flour
1 teaspoon baking powder
Toasted sesame seed (optional)

In a large bowl cream together the sugar and butter, Beat in egg; add sesame seed.

Sooooo many sesame seeds!

Stir together flour, baking powder, and ½ teaspoon salt. Stir into creamed mixture. Shape into 8x2x2-inch log. Wrap dough in waxed paper and chill till firm, at least 2 hours.

All dressed up with nowhere to go. (I used plastic wrap instead of waxed paper.)

Cut into ¼-inch slices.

This takes some elbow grease - they get pretty firm in the fridge.

Bake on ungreased cookie sheet at 350F for 12 to 15 minutes. (If desired, before baking press toasted sesame seed into the tops of cookies.)

Done! Ready for class.

My Rating: 4/5 "These are great! The sesame seeds add a nice light crunch to the basic sugar cookie. They were a hit with my students when I took them to class!"
