Beefy Tacos

1 lb. ground beef
½ cup chopped onion
2 cloves garlic, minced
½ cup water
¼ tsp. salt
¼ cup tomato paste
1 tbs. chili powder
1-1/2 tsp. ground cumin
1 tsp. dried oregano leaves
10 soft taco style flour tortillas
Assorted toppings: Shredded lettuce, shredded Monterey Jack cheese, chopped tomatoes, sliced ripe olives, sour cream and cilantro leaves

Cook beef, onion and garlic in large skillet over medium-high heat until beef is browned, about 7 minutes.

This smells absolutely AMAZING.

Drain fat from skillet. Stir in water, tomato paste, chili powder, cumin, oregano and salt. Cook over low heat, stirring occasionally for 10 minutes.

It's like a thicker, more savory sloppy joe.

Warm tortillas according to package direction. For each taco, place ¼ cup beef mixture down center of each tortilla. Top with your choice of assorted toppings. Fold in sides of tortilla over filling.

Served as part of a taco bar for guests!

My Rating: 4/5 "This is actually a nice complex flavor for taco meat, and it gets bonus points for calling for neither taco seasoning nor taco sauce. It's just straight-up food."
