Nut and Date Cookies

Baking Classics

½ cup butter
1/3 cup brown sugar
1/3 cup granulated sugar
1 egg
½ teaspoon vanilla
1 teaspoon warm water
1-1/4 cups flour
¼ teaspoon baking soda
¼ teaspoon salt
½ cup pecan halves
½ cup date pieces

Preheat oven to 375F. Cream butter and sugars. Add egg, vanilla and water; mix well. Gradually stir in flour mixed with soda and salt. Stir in pecan halves and dates.

This is a nice-sized batter. It makes enough that you can say you have cookies, but not so much you'll be eating cookies for the next six months.

Drop by teaspoonfuls on an ungreased cookie sheet about 2 inches apart.

Pretty little cookie balls!

Bake for 10 minutes. Remove from baking sheet to cool.

Boom!

My Rating: 4/5 "These are pretty fantastic. If you're not familiar with dates, you should try them. They're a great natural sweetener, and combined with brown sugar here they're really excellent. The nuts add good crunch. Unique and tasty!"
