Orange French Toast

Better Homes and Gardens Cooking for Two, p. 38

1 egg

1/3 cup orange juice

Dash ground cinnamon

Dash salt

4 slices day-old bread

2 tablespoons butter or margarine

Confectioners’ sugar

Combine slightly beaten egg, orange juice, ground cinnamon, and salt. Dip bread in mixture.

Don't let it soak too long or it gets soggy and hard to flip.

Brown on both sides in hot butter or margarine till golden.

They're delicate - be careful.

Serve hot with confectioners’ sugar.

Served with some delicious apples from our backyard tree!

My Rating: 4/5 "It really is remarkably orangey, which makes it a step up from your generic sugary French toast. The use of confectioners' sugar instead of syrup adds to its distinctiveness. Really good stuff!"
