Spaghetti with Classic Italian Sauce

16 oz spaghetti

1-1/2 lbs ground Italian sausage

1 cup onion, chopped

¾ cup green bell pepper, chopped

1 (24 oz) jars pasta sauce, any flavor

½ cup grated Parmesan cheese

Cook pasta according to package directions. In large skillet, brown sausage; pour off fat.

I used venison sausage - an excellent gift from a hunter friend.


Add onion and green pepper; cook and stir until tender. Add pasta sauce and Parmesan cheese. 

It seems weird to put the Parmesan in the sauce instead of on top of the finished product, but it does add a nice consistency to everything.


Bring to a boil; reduced heat. Cover; simmer 15 minutes, stirring occasionally. Pour over hot pasta and serve.
