Broiled Bananas

The Holiday Cookbook, p. 10

6 firm bananas having all-yellow or slightly green-tipped peel

Melted butter or margarine

Few grains salt

Peel bananas. Arrange on broiler rack. Brush generously with butter or margarine.

I used plant butter.

Sprinkle with salt.

Set temperature control of range at Broil. Place in broiler with tops of bananas 3 in. from source of heat for 5 min., or until bananas are lightly browned and tender when pierced with a fork.

Strangely attractive, eh?

Serve on warm serving plate; garnish with sprigs of parsley.

The parsley seemed like a little much. Bananas ain't that fancy even if they're broiled.

My Rating: 4/5 "I went into this thinking it was going to be incredibly weird, but it's actually tasty. The broiling makes the banana taste sweeter and gives it a nice soft texture that's very pleasant. Seriously, give this a shot!"
