The Southern Living Community Cookbook, p. 308

1/3 cup fresh orange juice

2/3 cup tomato juice

½ tsp. salt

¼ tsp. freshly ground black pepper

3 Tbsp. fresh lime juice

¼ tsp. Worcestershire sauce

½ tsp. hot sauce

1 Tbsp. minced onion

Serve with: tequila, lime wedges

Stir together all ingredients, and mix well. 

All kinds of interesting stuff in here!


Chill. Serve in individual shot glasses alongside shot glasses of tequila. Sip alternately.

Here's the tequila and the juice and a Coke I had ready in case things went sideways.

My Rating: 4/5 "This was neat because the juice blend is such a complex and interesting chaster to the tequila. When you're stinging from the liquor you're not drowning that sensation in sweetness or salt. Instead, you're complementing it with a different, fun sting. I don't know that it's something that will be a cocktail staple for me, but it was fun to try."
