Chocolate Velvet Pie

Toll House

1 prepared 9-inch (6 oz.) chocolate crumb crust

1 ¾ cups (11.5 oz.) milk chocolate morsels

1 pkg. (8 oz.) cream cheese, softened

1 tsp. vanilla extract

1 cup heavy whipping cream, whipped

I was stoked to find this at the Co-op.


MICROWAVE morsels in medium, uncovered, microwave-safe bowl on HIGH power for 45 seconds; STIR. If needed, microwave at additional 15-second intervals, stirring vigorously after each interval until morsels are melted. Cool slightly.

BEAT melted chocolate, cream cheese and vanilla extract in large mixer bowl until light in color. 

What beautiful chocolate!


Fold in whipped cream. Spoon into crust. 

It's stiff, so you'll have to put some elbow grease into the spreading.


Refrigerate for at least 2 hours or until firm. Top with sweetened whipped cream, chocolate curls and nuts, if desired.

I didn't feel the need to gild the lilly.


My Rating: 4/5 "This a chocolate lover's dream. It satisfies both your inner child and your more sophisticated outer adult. It's a bit rich, so don't go into this thinking your inner child gets to eat half of the pie in one sitting. But you'll relish that one piece!"
