Samantha’s Cook Book, p. 36
8
ounces cream cheese
4
tablespoons butter
¼ cup
chopped walnuts
1/8
teaspoon nutmeg
1
tablespoon cream
1
teaspoon honey
12
pieces bread
Soften the cream cheese in a mixing bowl by letting it sit
at room temperature for 1 hour. In another mixing bowl, soften the butter by
letting it set at room temperature for 1 hour.
Add the chopped walnuts, nutmeg, and cream to the cream
cheese. Stir well with a fork.
With a FORK. |
Add the honey to the butter and mix well with a spoon.
What a beautiful sight. |
With a SPOON. |
Lay 6 slices of bread on the cutting board. Use a butter
knife to spread the honey-butter on the bread.
Oops. That's a spoon. We're going to Recipe Hell. |
Then spread the cream cheese and
nut filling on top.
Eeep! That's on the wrong slice! Culpa rebet vultus meus... |
Lay the remaining 6 slices of bread on top of the filling.
Use a sharp knife to cut off the crusts. Then cut each sandwich into triangles,
squares, or rectangles.
Grad students know better than to waste crusts. |
My Rating: 4/5 "The nutmeg gives the cream cheese a nice pop! of flavor, and the little bit of it goes a long way here. Very filling."
