Memories of a Cuban Kitchen, p. 53
2
slices white bread, toasted and crusts removed
1
tablespoon cream cheese
1
tablespoon strawberry preserves
4
ounces sliced cooked fresh turkey
Spread 1 slice of toasted bread with the cream cheese and
the other slice with the strawberry preserves, place the turkey on one slice,
and close with the other to make a sandwich.
Let the cream cheese sit out for a bit before you make this, and it'll be easier to spread.
It calls for a lot of turkey. I used cold cuts instead of fresh, and it was still a substantial sandwich!
Served with some store-bought cheesy broccoli rice that was on sale.
My Rating: 5/5 "WONDERFUL. Each flavor combined with the others in a beautiful way. The preserves were a sweet counterpoint to the salty meat, and then the cream cheese gives everything a nice smooth tone. All of that on toast? Hell yeah."
