½ gallon
apple cider
½ cup
dark brown sugar
3 whole
star anise
1 ½ tsp
whole cloves
1/8 tsp
ground nutmeg
½ cup
orange juice
6 cinnamon sticks, plus more for garnish
Mix all ingredients in large saucepan.
Star anise - always pretty and always fun. |
Over medium heat, stir until sugar is dissolved. Do not bring
to a boil.
So many flavorings! |
Pour mixture through a strainer into mugs.
Add a cinnamon stick to each mug and serve immediately.
Served as a sweet counterpoint to a dinner composed of buffalo wings and pepper jack grilled cheeses. |
My Rating: 4/5 "This is from a cookbook full of things that are supposed to taste like Yankee Candles smell - and by Jove, it truly does. I didn't strain out the seasonings because I was lazy (also because I don't own a strainer) and it was still drinkable and delicious. Great for a chilly evening, and equally tasty served cold!"
