Baking Classics

butter

cup brown sugar
1/3
cup granulated sugar

½ teaspoon
vanilla

teaspoon warm water
1-1/4
cups flour
¼ teaspoon
baking soda
¼ teaspoon
salt
½ cup
pecan halves
½ cup
date pieces
Preheat oven to 375F. Cream butter and sugars. Add egg,
vanilla and water; mix well. Gradually stir in flour mixed with soda and salt.
Stir in pecan halves and dates.
This is a nice-sized batter. It makes enough that you can say you have cookies, but not so much you'll be eating cookies for the next six months. |
Drop by teaspoonfuls on an ungreased cookie
sheet about 2 inches apart.

Bake for 10 minutes. Remove from baking sheet to
cool.

My Rating: 4/5 "These are pretty fantastic. If you're not familiar with dates, you should try them. They're a great natural sweetener, and combined with brown sugar here they're really excellent. The nuts add good crunch. Unique and tasty!"
