6 slices bacon, chopped
1 cup chopped onion
3 (15 ounce) cans Great Northern Beans,
rinsed and drained
1 (18 ounce) bottle hickory barbecue sauce
In medium skillet over medium heat, saute bacon until
crisp. Remove from pan; drain off all but 1 tablespoon drippings.

Saute onions in drippings until golden brown (about 7-9
minutes).
In a grease 2-quart baking dish, combine all ingredients.
This is a whole lotta beans. |
Bake, covered, in a preheated 350F oven 1 ½ hours.
It looks soupy, but it's quite beany once it's in the bowl. |
Served with a wonderful apple chicken sausage and some store-bought potato salad for a nice little winter indoor cookout. |
My Rating: 4/5 "Sweet, savory, substantial. This is a great side for something meaty. Three cans of beans is a ton of beans, so save this one for company! (Also keep in mind that the overall effect is heavily influenced by the barbecue sauce used, so pick a tasty one!)"
