No-stick cooking spray
4 tablespoons butter, divided
¼ cup dry breadcrumbs
¼ teaspoon paprika
2 tablespoons all purpose flour
1 (12 fl. oz.) can evaporated milk
½ cup water
½ teaspoon salt
2 cups shredded sharp Cheddar cheese
1 cup cubed pasteurized prepared cheese
product
2 cups dry small elbow macaroni, cooked and
drained (4 cups cooked)
HEAT oven to 350F. Coat 1-1/2-quart baking dish with
no-stick cooking spray. Microwave 2 tablespoons butter in small microwave-safe
bowl on HIGH 30 seconds or until melted. Stir in breadcrumbs and paprika.
MELT remaining 2 tablespoons butter in 4-quart saucepan over medium heat. Add flour, stirring constantly, until bubbly and lightly browned. Stir in evaporated milk, water and salt. Bring to a boil over medium-low heat, stirring constantly. Stir in cheese and cooked macaroni until blended.
Now that IS some creamy mac 'n' cheese! |
Pour into prepared baking dish. Sprinkle evenly with breadcrumb
mixture.
BAKE 25 to 30 minutes or until bubbly and light golden
brown.
I'm not the most talented bread-crumb sprinkler. |
My Rating: 4/5 "This has great consistency and a ton of flavor compared to most baked macaroni and cheese dishes. The paprika in the bread crumbs is an especially nice touch. Quality stuff!"
