2 pounds cube steak
¼ cup all-purpose flour
4 tablespoons vegetable oil, divided
2 cups sliced onion
2 (14.5 ounce) cans sliced stewed tomatoes
with onion, celery and bell pepper, undrained
1 (0.87) packet dry brown gravy mix
Season steaks with salt and pepper; coat with flour. In large skillet, heat 3 tablespoons oil over medium-high heat. Add steaks; brown on both sides.
Make the place sizzle! |
Remove from skillet.
Add remaining oil and onions to skillet; saute until
softened.
In medium bowl, combine tomatoes and gravy mix. In slow cooker, alternate layers of steaks, onion and tomatoes.
Here's one layer. You'll fill up the Crock Pot pretty well. |
Cook on HIGH 3-4 hours
or LOW 6-8 hours.
Served with a nice little salad. |
My Rating: 4/5 "I didn't have high hopes for this, but you know what? It was good! The gravy mix gave it a little something and the meat was nice and tender. Worth the afternoon of tantalizing yourself with the smell while it cooks."
