Maple-Glazed Butter Cookies

Maple Sampler, p. 11

2 cups all-purpose flour

2 teaspoons baking powder

½ teaspoon salt

½ cup butter

1 cup maple syrup

1 egg

¼ cup chopped nuts

MAPLE GLAZE:

½ cup confectioners’ sugar

1 teaspoon milk

Maple syrup

I wish I knew more about maple syrup so I could tell which ones are good ones.

Mix together the flour, baking powder, and salt in a large bowl. Cream in the butter. Mix in the maple syrup, then the egg. Beat until smooth. Drop by the tablespoon onto greased cookie sheets. Bake in a preheated 350F oven for 10-12 minutes. Remove the cookies to wire racks; cool. Spread the cookies with the maple glaze.

You won't be able to stop yourself from eating the leftover maple glaze right out of the bowl with a spoon. That's ok.

Sprinkle with the chopped nuts.

Maple Glaze: In a small bowl, blend confectioners’ sugar and 1 teaspoon milk with enough maple syrup to make a spreading consistency.

Shiny and delicious!

My Rating: 5/5 "If you love maple - and what kind of monster wouldn't love maple? - you'll adore these. The cookie itself is great, and the extra maple in the glaze makes it even better. Add the nut on top for texture and you've got instant awesomeness."
