What’s Cookin’ with the Republicans, p. 80
1 pound ground sirloin, lean
1 cup chopped onion
Pinch minced garlic
2 (8-ounce) cans tomato sauce
1 (14 ½-ounce) can stewed tomatoes
2 tablespoons chili powder
½ tablespoon cumin
1 (6-ounce) can chili beans
1 (4-ounce) can green chilies, chopped
½-1 cup water, optional
Salt and pepper to taste
In non-stick pan over medium-high heat, brown sirloin, onion and garlic, using no additional fat.

Add tomato sauce, stewed tomatoes,
chili powder, cumin, chili beans and chilies.

Simmer 30-60 minutes or longer, as desired. If the
mixture is too thick, add water. Taste and adjust seasonings to taste.

| As you can see, I was sitting next to the baby and she had already demanded part of my slice of rye. She also ended up eating some of chili. | 
My Rating: 4/5 "This reminded me a lot of the chili at Wendy's. Hearty beefiness and the nostalgia trip make for a great combination. You might want to dress it up with cheese or sour cream or something just to add that final touch of yum."
