Exterior: 2/5
The restaurant looks like a home-turned-commercial-venture and it's in an area of town that's hybrid industrial/residential but starting to get gentrified with more restaurants. It was a different pizza place before being taken over by the current owner, who seems to be trying to spiff up the joint.

The dining room at Andy's was under refurbishment at the time of this writing and they were only doing pickup via the drive-thru window. It'll be cool to see how things look after the remodel!

They don't have a ton of options in terms of specialty pizzas or sandwiches, but they represent the good ol' pizza place stand-bys well. I was interested to see that they had "lunch box" specials on the menu - that's a neat deal. We tried the "Andy Wheels," a signature bread-and-stuffing side dish unique to the restaurant. They were enjoyable (peppers and olives made a great filler) but we would have liked more cheese in the bread. We were bigger fans of the current special featured pizza, a nice dill pickle pie that gave you your pickle fix without drowning you in dill like some pizza chefs do.

We were very much a house divided about how much we enjoyed the pizza. My four-year-old and I quite enjoyed it: we both liked that the crust was thin but still soft and that the red sauce had a hint of sweetness to it. My partner, on the other hand, was of the firm opinion that the crust tasted like wet cardboard. (I should note that he's an East Coast pizza snob and it's very hard to impress him with any crust that isn't from Frank Pepe's.)

My kid loved the thin depth of the pizza - he takes issue with slices that are too bready on the bottom. He refuses to eat anything but cheese pizza (JUST cheese, he says) and he thought this was a great one. Getting take-out from Andy's was an easy thing to do driving home from school on a Friday evening..
Would Eat Again?: Yellow Light
I don't know that Andy's is going to appear on our table frequently, but given how much my kid liked it I'm sure we'll be seeing it again. I guess the lesson here is that the secret to a successful pizzeria is to make a solid just-cheese offering that's great for conveniently feeding hungry kiddos.
