The Kokomo Popeye's is right by the Markland Mall and convenient to Walmart/Meijer/Sam's Club, so it's on your way. It's a newer Popeye's store (about five years old at the time of this writing) so it's still got a lot of its polish and a more modern style than some of the other restaurants. It's a great, fresh color scheme. Honestly, as fast-food storefronts go, this is one of the most attractive ones I've seen.

| But fun kitschy signage! |
There weren't a ton of folks actually eating the restaurant, which I think is par for the course for fast food in the 2020s. I think there were maybe two or three other tables occupied while we were there. But that's ok - things were quiet while we were eating. There's lots of calculated kitsch on the walls, which gives you something fun to look at while you eat and also distracts a little from the oppressive orange-ness of the interior color scheme. Everything seemed impeccably clean.

Look, this place sells chicken. They lean in hard on selling chicken. It's in the jingle and everything. But you can get some interesting stuff by way of sides, like red beans and rice. Personally I always prefer their seafood to their chicken, so I'm hoping they start offering more stuff in their shrimp/fish vein. But you go to Popeye's for chicken and that's what they're going to give you.

It's good chicken, though, is the thing. And the seafood is good, too. Their breading and seasoning game is always solid, so you're going to enjoy whatever it is they've breaded. I'm not a huge fan of all of their sides, but I'll eat those Cajun fries until I'm at maximum potato capacity. It's yummy stuff.

| And there's space to run around, too |
I don't know what happened to the Popeye's kids' meals. They had then when we moved to Kokomo in the summer, but then they just fell off of the menu somewhere. Now what they DO have are big family meals, which is convenient for keeping everybody fed and probably a better deal in the long run. So that's fine. Eating in this particular store was nice because it wasn't crowded, but it was clean, so when the 1YO got loose and started trying to cause havoc it didn't really affect anybody. They had really nice high chairs, too, which seems like a little thing but seriously that's the kind of perk I'm looking for in my life right now.
Would Eat Again?: Green Light
My kid and my husband love Popeye's. I love it too as long as they have a seafood option available. (Even if they didn't I could probably make a meal out of a massive amount of Cajun fries.) Prices are reasonable to boot. This was our first time actually eating inside, but there have been multiple occasions where I've texted my husband "Hey I don't know what to do for dinner can you pick up Popeye's" and we've all had a nice meal. This is a guilty pleasure because it's all greasy and a chain and whatnot, but I'm willing to live with the guilt in order to get the satisfaction.
