Nevada Beef Barbecue

The Celebrity Cookbook, p. 125

2 lb. ground beef

1 TBSP oil

1 C chopped celery

1 C chopped green pepper

1 C chopped onion

Salt and pepper

2 TBSP dry mustard

2 TBSP horseradish

2 TBSP Worcestershire sauce

2 TBSP vinegar

1 C chili sauce

They say Nevada, but this gives Louisiana.


Brown ground beef and drain. Brown celery, pepper and onion; add beef. Turn off heat and add remaining ingredients. Turn on heat and simmer. 

So much going on in there!


This can be put into a crock pot and simmered all day. May be reheated and served with buns.

Served with some sauteed mushrooms and some Garlic Cheese Bread.

My Rating: 4/5 "So much flavor, but no one ingredient sticks out above the others and the balance is enjoyable. It was nice by itself, although I have to say I enjoyed making tacos out of the leftovers even more. I also enjoyed what a nice pantry-cleaner-outer it was."
