Mad Scientist Mix-Up

Little Monsters Cookbook, p. 45

Ice cubes

1 liter lemon-lime soda

Various food coloring

4 packages Pop Rocks candy

Pop Rocks/Popios, Tomato/Domates

Put ice cubes in a beaker-style glass. Pour in lemon-lime soda until it is about an inch from the rim. Add a drop of your favorite mad scientist food coloring and stir gently.

There's a really beautiful moment before you start stirring.

Repeat for remaining drinks.

Right before drinking your creation dump in a package of Pop Rocks candy and enjoy the crazy reaction!

It didn't turn into a volcano or anything, but there's some nice extra fizzing going on in there.

My Rating: 4/5 "This gets props for the cool effect. The Pop Rocks make a fun fizzsplosion when you dump them in and they make a frothy layer on the top of the drink that looks neat. I didn't like that the drink ended up tasting like the flavor of the Pop Rocks, though. (I'm not a fan of most artificial fruit flavoring.) If you like those flavors, you'll love this. Even if you don't you have fun making it."
