Toad in a Hole

Hill Top Delights, p. M – 83

1 egg

1 thick slice of bread

Butter or margarine

Butter both sides of bread. Cut a 2 or 3 inch whole [sic] in center of slice.

Go go Gadget Cane's Cup!

Grill both the bread and the ‘hole’ on one side on griddle heated to medium.

Flip slice, drop ½ teaspoon butter into empty hole; then break an egg into the hole.

Egg, meet basket.

Let it cook until egg is almost cooked. Flip bread and allow to cook until egg has reached the desired stage of doneness. Enjoy!

A little burned, but no less tasty for extra-crispy texture. Served with a chicken-apple sausage.

My Rating: 4/5 "It's so simple, but gosh it's good. I made mine with brioche bread which added a nice sweetness to the overall effect. Keeping the egg runny in the middle was also a solid choice, in my book anyway. Hooray for quick, easy, cheap meals!"
